Apartments - Millisle
The apartments are proposed for the site of the old petrol station on Millisle Main Street overlooking the lagoon and the sea. Only a few stone walls remain of the original mill that stood on this site. Next door the original mill house is still in use.

Design
The initial design makes use of the landform and topography of the site to maximize the panoramic views over the Irish Sea. Following the eastern boundary of the site dictated the basic plan form of the building. The round towers at each end and at the entrance stairs were included to echo the architectural idiom of nearby Ballycopeland windmill and provide a strong aspect to turn the corners of the site. The design extends over three stories with a basement carpark to the south and four apartments with views of the lagoon. The ground level and first floor surmount this, set back slightly, on the lagoon side. The main approach is via an internal landscaped court yard with disabled parking. The scheme incorporates the provision of new landscaping, picnic areas and level access to the beach promenade.
